

A Rude AwakeningMy breathing grew heavy, and the room started to spin. I grabbed onto the table beside me and closed my eyes. I tried to clear my head, tried to think everything through logically, but a sinking feeling in my stomach told me my logic was useless. I stared at my shaking hand. The paleness of my own skin shocked me. I scanned quickly down my arm and legs, hoping to see a difference, but there was none. It was all the same, not just my usual pale, but a sickly white.
